Good Karmann Cabriolet Beetles are pretty rare beasts. This particular 1959 example started life in Canada and was imported to the UK 30 years ago where it was restored and converted to RHD.
The Karmann Cabriolet has stood the test of time well and although the restoration was 30 years ago the beetle is still in very solid condition with only the paint in a few light places showing its age.
Running a stock 1500 single port engine that has been made to look like a period 1200 (with exception of alternator), it runs an Autocavan stock style exhaust fitted with original cartune sportflare tailpipes, it sounds amazing!!
With its 1500 gearbox (fitted with short axles) the Karmann drives very well and will comfortably cruise at 65 - 70mph. Although still running stock drums all round, it has the added benefit of being converted to dual circuit for safety. the electrics have also been updated to 12v. The Beetle is currently lowered but can be returned to stock.
The interior and the fabric roof are both in good condition, with nice headliner and correct dome light. The Beetle has some very nice and (Cabrio only) desirable items - rear seat, correct flip up mirror, locking bonnet pull, locking glovebox lid, locking gear shifter.
Also has accessory locking steering column in place and has key, ( the column has not been modified to allow it to lock). Rare original mechanical Dehne RHD fuel gauge. Rare accessory Heater control lever. Working Bosch yellow script lense spotlight with correct original mounting bracket. Original and rare Canadian Volkswagen Script badge on wing.
