Through the years of production of the Volkswagen Beetle there were many changes and 1957 was no exception. The big change was that of the windscreen sizes, the new front windscreen was 17% wider, and went higher up the roof, as a result the windscreen pillars were thinner, aiding visibility. The rear window also grew in size, gone was the Oval and a new larger rectangular screen was fitted (95% larger than the oval).
A new dashboard was fitted, with more space between switches (to avoid confusion), the new dash had a much larger glove box (50% larger) and the roller wheel accelerator had now been changed to a floor mounted pedal. The deck lid had been changed from a W to a semi-W to make it easier to mount a number plate to.
Built on the 6th December 1957 this Right Hand Drive Model is a striking car, finished in the very rare colour of Light Bronze (L245) with the Green grey/Grey green interior. The car was originally registered in Malta and then imported to the UK on May 1959
It is a matching numbers car with only 5600 miles recorded, this is understood to be the original mileage, The Beetle has at some stage in the last few years undergone a meticulous rebuild and is a joy to behold, it really is a stunning car.
Supplied with a MOT and a fresh service, it is ready to be enjoyed.
