The car:

When it was launched in February ’61 the Type 3 was intended to appeal to a different type of motorist - someone who would appreciate the frugal simplicity of an air-cooled VW, but who wanted extra carrying capacity and a more refined experience.

What a stunning example of a 1965 Type 3 Notch this is!

Originally registered in Italy in 1965 an imported into the UK a few years ago, the Type 3 "Notch back" is a rare car these days and even more so in this condition.
The car arrived from Italy with faded paintwork, there was zero rust.

Front and rear wings along with the doors were removed exposing the inner wings, all were in exceptional factory paint condition (and remain so). The outside of the car was repainted in the original Baltic Blue. The exterior trim is mostly original bar the window rubbers and front and rear light seals.
The interior is original as are both the luggage compartments.

Having undergone a full service, a new clutch along with new wheel cylinders and brake shoes, this really is a get in and go car. A truly stunning example and not one likely to be repeated too soon.
