Karmann Ghia's are recognised as one of the prettiest vehicles ever penned. Debuted as the Type 14 at the October 1953 Paris Auto Show as a styling concept, the Volkswagen executives proposed a halo car to its model range. Coachbuilder Karmann were commissioned for its manufacture and in turn contracted the Italian firm Ghia, who adapted styling themes previously explored for Chrysler and Studebaker to a Beetle floor pan widened by (300 mm).

The Karmann Ghia's body panels were butt-welded, hand-shaped, and smoothed with English pewter in a time-consuming process commensurate with higher-end manufacturers, resulting in the Karmann Ghia's stunning bodywork.

This particular Karmann Ghia Coupe left the factory on 31st March 1967 and is a one U.S owner (awaiting the first registered UK owner J) The Ghia has undergone a bare metal repaint to the L620 Savannenbeige (Savannah Beige) it left the factory with. The interior belies the overall condition of the car as the seats are the originals, showing the sheltered life the car has had.

The 1500cc engine is strong and the mechanics have had a full re-commission.

This is one of the best examples of a matching numbers Karmann Ghia, destined for many more enjoyable journeys.
