The car:

Before Type 2 Detectives, there were the Type 3 Detectives (that is still our Ltd company name). This was in the days before the world went crazy for VW Buses and the Type 3 Boys spent most of their days specialising in sourcing, restoring and modifying VW’s most practical and stylish air-cooled offering, the Type 3.

This ’68 Squareback is a car that was given the T3D treatment many, many moons ago, and it’s testament to the quality of the car, the work that went into it and how well it’s been maintained in the intervening years, that it still looks as fresh as it does today.

A huge amount of time, energy and quality components were invested in this car and the quality speaks for itself.

The Type 3 cognoscenti will already have clocked the many cool accessories, such as the rare after-market roof rack, rubber bumper over-riders and gravel guards. And, if you know your wheels, you’ll appreciate the fact it’s wearing real deal magnesium Porsche Gas Burners, not reproductions.
You can’t beat a white car with a red interior. It’s the perfect combo.

Climb inside this one and you’ll hear an unusual sound – the ticking of an actual working VW clock.
Mechanically, everything is exactly as it should be. The original factory suspension has been given a turn on the splines to create the perfect blend of stance and ride quality and the 1776cc pancake engine is just the right side of sensible but with a little more poke in the mix.

All this car needs is a new owner to keep it in the manner to which it’s become accustomed.
