1972 Volkswagen Variant
First registered in Washington to Miss Ross 22nd April 1972. She was 63 when she bought it, one year before she retired from teaching.
Ordered by Al Lundgren Volkswagen of Yakima, WA - One dealer service stamp, Lundgren, at 5880 miles on 30th March 1974. So less than 3000 miles a year for the first two years. The Volkswagen was used by Miss Ross until well into her 80’s. A member of the museum board, chair of the Toppenish Museum Foundation and was in contact with other directors of museums in the valley to promote their museums and programs, hence the sticker on the rear of the car for the Toppenish Museum. It is reasonable to say the mileage is genuine at 44,883.
The Variant was imported into the UK in late 2018 and has since undergone a complete recommissioning by Type 2 Detectives and a seat retrim (TMI Interior) in the original colour vinyl. The bodywork has needed nothing other than a polish and a couple of small areas that needed some paint rectification. There are a few dings and scrapes on the car
This is a stunning example of a “time warp” Volkswagen Type 3 variant, to find one in this condition and with this provenance is a rare thing.
