1958 23 Window Samba

The 23-Window Samba is widely regarded as the most desirable of all classic Volkswagen buses. As values have continued to rise, genuine factory-built examples have become increasingly scarce, with early models achieving prices in excess of £200,000.

Advances in reproduction pressings from renowned manufacturers such as Grumpy's Sheet Metal in the USA now make it possible to build a factory-correct 23-Window Samba from an original 11-window Kombi. This exceptional example is exactly that.

Originally a genuine 1958 11-window bus, it was expertly transformed into a stunning 23-Window Samba in collaboration with Irv's Restos. The conversion included extensive metalwork using high-quality reproduction panels before receiving a full bare-metal respray to an exceptional standard. The build also features the correct long-spoon pop-out windows throughout, along with Safari front windows, providing what many consider to be the finest period-correct ventilation available in a classic VW.

Mechanically, the bus has been comprehensively upgraded by T2D to ensure it performs every bit as well as it looks. It features our proven suspension package with Bilstein dampers all round, a straight axle conversion, front disc brakes with front tubs for additional wheel clearance, Porsche Fuchs alloy wheels, and a lively 1776cc engine running twin Weber IDF carburettors with 123 electronic ignition.

The interior has been beautifully retrimmed by Jo Clifford of Red Head Upholstery, one of the UK's most respected classic vehicle trimmers. Completing the package is a discreet vintage-style audio system with Bluetooth connectivity, combining period-correct aesthetics with modern convenience.
